Dr. S. Rajagopal, Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr. S. Rajagopal MBBS, DPM(Ireland), MRCPsych(UK), CCST(UK), FIPS is a Consultant Psychiatrist.

He has rich international clinical, teaching and research experience.

After MBBS from Stanley Medical College in Chennai, Dr. Rajagopal completed his basic specialist (pre-MRCPsych) and higher specialist (post-MRCPsych) training in the United Kingdom.

He obtained his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in General Adult Psychiatry with additional sub-speciality accreditation in Liaison Psychiatry.

Following that, he worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist at South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust for about 7 years, based at the world famous St. Thomas’ Hospital in London.

In the UK, Dr. Rajagopal has been involved in teaching psychiatry to students at different levels: undergraduate medical students, post-MBBS psychiatric trainees (Senior House Officers), and post-membership psychiatric trainees (Specialist Registrars).

He has been an Examiner for undergraduate MBBS psychiatry exams.

He has organised and taught in MRCPsych revision courses.

With respect to research, he has published widely in several international journals, including the ‘British Medical Journal’ (BMJ).

Dr. Rajagopal was on the Editorial Board of the journal BJPsych International, published by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, from 2011 to 2023.

He also periodically provides external peer review for other journals such as Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica, NEJM AI, etc.

Dr. Rajagopal is a Life Fellow of the Indian Psychiatric Society.
